Some pro-level pics and a pro-level reader
I found two lovely picks on line the same day I got access to a reader's photo - so I've decided to post them all.
This first photo captures the dream for many surfers, and reminds me of my happy days surfing in Mexico.
I don't know where it was taken, but who'd rather be anywhere else? An empty left, nicely overhead, clean, sunny, and with a flock of pelicans passing by...
Source: www.facebook.com/surfermag
And this photo?! Well, I'm just speechless!
If somebody can tell me where this is, I'd be very much obliged...
Source: www.facebook.com/carvemag
Today's reader photo comes from a Spanish friend of mine: Bosco.

I started teaching Bosco how to surf in 2012 and it seems he's come a long way.
Thanks for the photo mate, and I'm happy you're getting amongst it.

A truly romantic side of surfing
Alaska, a US state, would have to be one of the last destinations surfers ever think about. The place is more synonymous with snow than surf.

Anyway, the crazy cats in today's video like to go there to explore surf destinations!
I wasn't expecting too much when I pressed 'play' on this clip, but I was very, very, very pleasantly surprised.
These guys aren't pros, they're 'just' good. Yet their passion for the sport, nature and adventure is immensely attractive. I loved their ability to conquer cold, distance and the obstacles of the Alaskan landscape to find something new, unique and empty.
I thoroughly encourage those who love the romantic side of our great sport to watch this. I expect your heart will be warmed and you will want to see more...

Art and pop
I've got two surf videos for you today.
One is an arty, classy, thought-provoking video that's still a great view.
It's filmed in the United Kingdom and Ireland and mainly contains big, tow-in surfing. Sometimes you need to wait to get to the meat, but it's worth it.

SEA FEVER from Tim Davies on Vimeo.

This second clip, while seeming a bit 'poppish', still contains some surfing well worth a watch.
It looks like all of the footage comes from the southern part of the Australian state of Queensland.

I'm kind of jealous of the main character in this clip. I've got so few tubes in my surfing career that I still need to fully focus whenever I'm trying to make one. This bloke has made so many of them that he now often plays around when within.
Lucky chap.

More surf busses
Dear readers, this is not a commercial...
Source: cie.research.yale.edu/event_lecture/design-environment-and-life-cycle-assessment-important-aspects-mercedes-benz-business-
...It's just a story about some Mercs.
On the back of Monday's post, I received a link to some more classic (and classy) surf busses from the not-so-surf-renowned surf brand Mercedes-Benz.
Monday's post
Despite the car manufacturer not being synonymous with the kinds of wheels many surfers like to put themselves behind, they have made some classic wheels that would be a nifty for getting to the beach.
Source: www.thetruthaboutcars.com/2010/01/curbside-classic-van-sunday-mercedes-benz-207d-and-other-vintage-mb-vans-and-campers/
Call me tight, or thrifty, but as fun as these wheels look, I can't help but cringe at the difficulty in finding spares and stumping up for a simple service when the time comes.
But, if you're more resourceful than me, and you're actually considering one, you may want to read more about these at the website I pulled them from.
More about Merc surf mobiles
And below I've attached a photo for those of you who, for whatever reason, don't give a rats about surf-mobiles and just want to see a sweet wave:

Open ocean big
It's a wonderful shot this one:
A surfer, way out on the flats, bottom turning with purpose on his backhand. Add to that a wall ahead of him looking unpredictable and growing. The barrel behind bearing down on him while the sun innocently reflects off the water and shines through the lip.
What the heck am I writing?! I must be tired!
Good night.
