It doesn't need to be 10/10 to have fun

I'm somewhat new to checking surf reports before going surfing. This newish habit has proven to have its positives and its negatives.

On the positive side, I've never scored so frequently in my life! I've been able to hit tides and swells while missing wind changes - for example.

On the negative side, I've become way too picky. For example, I tend not to go down when the wind is even a light on-shore. This is not good. Some great surfs can be had in 'imperfect' conditions. For example, I've had many a fun surf on beach breaks where imperfections in waves have made for some really intense shapes.

This photo, while not perfectly portraying what I'm trying to describe, is meant to support my thoughts of fun being there to be had in sub world-class conditions...
